Aberystwyth Wales UK, Tuesday 03 January 2018
UK Weather : Storm Eleanor, the fifth named storm of the winter, hits Aberystwyth Wales, with westerly winds gusting up to 80mph bringing huge waves crashing against the sea defences at high tide in the early morning.
Parts of the seafront promenade were closed to traffic, and local authority workers began the job of shifting tons of sand and gravel off the road.
Yellow warnings for wind and flooding have been issued by the Met Office for the whole of England and wales, with the risk of damage and disruption greatest on the western shores of the country
