• UK Weather: gale force winds and torrential rain in West Wales

Tuesday 26 January 2016, West Wales UK

The remains of Storm Jonas bring torrential rain and high winds to Wales and the west of the UK today. Up to 100mm (4 inches) of rain are forecast to fall in some exposed upland parts of the country today, with the prospect of a month’s worth of rain falling in the next 48 hours

Yellow weather warnings are in place for persistant heavy rain and gale force winds, the risk of flooding in coastal and low-lying areas, and disruption to travel arrangements .
UK Weather: A man and his dog arr silhouetted as perfect circular sun halo , formed as the rays of the sun shine through ice crystals in the upper atmosphere, fills the sky above Aberystwyth. The halos, always at 22º from the sun, often indicate that rain will fall within the next 24 hours, since the cirrostratus clouds that cause them can signify an approaching frontal system. The weather is set to change overnight from the fine warm conditions to cooler and wetter days, more typical of mid May.
